Dichroic glass was invented in the mid 1970s for the Aerospace industry.
The glass is created in a vacuum chamber where a complex process vaporizes metal oxides and crystal quartz to form a film that adheres to the surface of glass.
The idea of developing such a coating was to ensure that it would not change at high temperatures.
The different colours are due to the different layers used to coat the glass.
We carefully hand choose our glass, cutting it cautiously and precisely to its individual excellence.
We fuse the Dichroic Glass together in a kiln up to a temperature of approximately 1500° F for several hours to
create each piece of glass.
